8. Thurstan VOSE (c: 1678) and his wife Mary had three children at Lunt in the parish of Sefton Lancashire

    7. William VOSE (1705-Dec 1778) married 7.Jane MINSHALL(April 1705) 22nd April 1728 Prescot
                          They had eight children at Rainford. Both died at Rainford interned in the parish church

notes: Samuel VOSE(1797) gamekeeper died age 34 at Rainhill and Margaret (a farmer of 2 acres, with cows) died age 65 of heart
         disease and dropsy at Rainhill.
        When Samuel died William, John and Phebe were brought up by his brother John and wife Elizabeth who
                  were childless. Henry and George lived with their mother who had a small holding.

The Vose, Vaux, Voce, family's name came from several places in France during the Norman
conquest. The earliest records are from Sefton Parish of Thurstan Vose who was a farmer in
Lunt Lancashire a small village just South West of Ormskirk and to west of Sefton. Later the
family moved to Rainford and Windle were they continued to farm. Later John Vose
(1824-1900) took up the trade of tool maker to the joinery trade and set up a small workshop in
Holt Lane Rainhill employing a small work force. A Thurstan Vose appears in papers of the
Alison family of Park Hall Charnock Richard (1616) as renting a cottage and 26f of land.
